The Arts

St Norbert College has a vibrant Arts program, giving students the opportunity to participate in Music, Dance, Drama, Visual Arts and Media Arts/Design.

Classroom lessons, individual tuition and rehearsals are conducted in the Xanten Performing Arts Centre, which includes the 190-seat Xanten Theatre.

The Arts program is represented in annual arts nights, official College events, the Performing Arts Festival for Catholic schools and colleges and the Angelico Arts Exhibition.


The ArtsMUSIC

The Music Program caters for students both from within the College and from neighbouring Catholic primary schools. Professional tutors cover a wide range of instruments including voice, flute, clarinet, acoustic/electric guitar, drums and percussion, keyboards, trumpet, trombone, violin, viola, double bass, saxophone and electric bass.

The ArtsDANCE

The Dance Program gives students the chance to study a number of dance forms including Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Contemporary, Acrobatic and Hip Hop.  The four specialised dance programs – Junior Dance team, Senior Dance team, Canons Hip Hop Crew and Tap Troupe – perform at the Catholic Performing Arts Festival, Dance Night, Orientation Day and College Presentation Night.

The ArtsDRAMA

The well-established Drama Program provides students with the opportunity to experience the varied aspects involved in a drama production.

The College production is held every two years and showcases our most talented actors, dancers and musicians. Students may also select to be part of the Production Team.

Visual Arts at St Norbert College covers a range of creative media across all year levels. Ceramics, block-printing, sculpture, collage, acrylic, water colour and oil painting, collage and sometimes 4D formats are just some of the opportunities available for students as an elective through to Year 12.

MEDIA ARTS/DESIGN

Media Arts enables students to analyse past technologies and use existing and emerging technologies as they explore imagery, text and sound. Students experiment with and interpret cultures, media genres and different communication practices.
